My goal is to help my students discover mathematical knowledge for themselves, using their own experience as a starting point.
I emphasise creative problem-solving and understanding mathematical concepts. I can use questions to help students overcome difficulties and find the correct answer by themselves, creating a feeling of success.
Also, I can connect with my students, thus, increasing engagement and facilitating learning. I tailor the lessons to the student's needs. I can make mathematics less intimidating for students who struggle, while I can offer challenging material to gifted students.
If there is interest, I can combine mathematics with programming.
PhD and Masters in Mathematics Education by the University of Cambridge.
Bachelor degree in Applied mathematics and Physics from the National technical university of Athens, Greece.
I have worked as a Kip McGrath Maths Tutor both with younger children, but also for students who were preparing for exams.
Currently, I also volunteer once a week at STEAMS, a hands-on class incorporating elements of science, maths, engineering and the arts.
Before coming to New Zealand, I also tutored privately in England and Greece. My speciality is maths, but have also taught physics, chemistry and programming.
I am originally from Greece but have been living in New Zealand for the last three years. I have a passion for understanding human life and in particular the human psychology and mind. That's why - among other things - I love maths and programming, the art of spotting and combining patterns to solve problems. I also enjoy music, mostly traditional and folk music, and I often sing songs from my country to relax and unwind.
