Does your child (primary) have dyslexia, ADHD, ASD or simply find learning difficult? Do they need a tailored, adventure based, approach to learning? I can help.
Qualifications
Completed my degree at the University of Canterbury, now doing a Master of Teaching and Learning (primary).
Experiences
I was previously a youth worker, then learning support staff, and am currently doing a Master of Teaching and Learning.
I will use my educational and work background to create outdoor and indoor maths/literacy learning opportunities for your child. Does your child like adventures? Lego? Sensory learning? So do I!
Do you want your child to bake a cake and learn fractions? Figure out bus routes and learn how to read grids? Have a nature walk and learn metaphors and similes? I can help!
Is your child having a heightened day and seems to find learning difficult? We can always use that time to do calm down activities and build social skills. Learning is different for everyone.
My child-centred approach to learning means that your child will get the support they need when they need it.
I have worked with students with autism (verbal and non verbal), ADHD, dyslexia, dyspraxia, behavioural needs and more.
I have a sweet old boy (my lovely dog Max) and a grumpy cat. My dog can help as a support dog for shy children when we first meet (upon request) - as he loves children and is very gentle. His favourite treats are cheese, chicken and peanut butter.

Annabelle's first lesson started on October 17th, and my child really enjoyed both her and her classes.
However, as of yesterday, only 6 out of the 11 scheduled lessons have taken place. Among the missed lessons:
1 was due to Labor Day,3 were canceled on the same day because of the teacher’s personal issues, and 1 was missed without any notice from the teacher.
Even among the 6 lessons that did take place, two were rescheduled due to the teacher notifying us on the day of the lesson that she could not make it.
While I commend her teaching skills, she lacks consideration for others. She repeatedly broke promises on the lesson day, showing little regard for her commitment to my child. As a parent, I spent time preparing snacks and cleaning in anticipation of her visits, only to have my efforts ignored.
The last incident was particularly disappointing—she didn’t show up for a lesson without any prior notice and still hasn’t contacted us.
If you’re looking for a one-off lesson, she might be fine, but I cannot recommend her to those seeking a long-term, reliable teacher with whom you can build rapport.
This review is entirely truthful, without a single lie.
(For context, my child enrolled in 1.5-hour lessons twice a week, and I paid $57 per lesson—$28 per hour plus a $15 transportation fee—after each session.)

Great job working with my son, he is doing better at school and you gave me the push to talk to teachers about his extra needs so they could better understand him.

Awesome outdoor one-on-one experiences. My autistic son thrived in this environment, thank you for your thoughtful and patient approach. Your ability to tailor activities to his needs is awesome. You make him feel safe and turn learning into a game not a chore.
