Tutor Profile

I am a Fully Registered New Zealand teacher. I have 25 years of experience with children ranging from New Entrant up to and including Year 4. I would love to be able to assist children within that bracket to improve and better their skills in reading and writing, to meet the standard, maintain the standard required at their level or possibly move above the standard. I have the hands on experience, knowledge, tools and resources to make it a fun and useful time for your child in a ONE hour slot after school. My strategy will be based on and in line with the schools. Monthly report backs are part of the plan and daily feedback about strategies implemented to progress your child. It will be one-on-one tutoring and practice presented in a fun way.

Bachelor of Education Degree - Level 7 qualification
Been involved in Primary School Curriculum all of my career to date.

Twenty-five years in Primary education
Knowledge and practice in the New Zealand Curriculum
Development of spelling, reading and writing programmes for New Entrant up to and including Year 4 (5 - 10 year old children)
Testing children to assess gaps which need to be filled.
Regular assessment so as to continuously ensure progress in the curriculum

I have been a teacher all of my professional life. It is my passion, to help, grow and nurture children into adolescence through education. Working with families to provide a successful path where every child is able to achieve and fulfill their needs within the education system, is my goal. I have three of my own successful children who are 28, 25 and 19, on varied and different paths to suit their capabilities. I love reading books, running long distances for my mental and physical health and spending precious time with my dear family and dog.
