I believe the purpose of teaching is to assist students to gain knowledge, skills, values, and positive attitudes from their education so that they can develop a sense of self -achievement as they strive to fulfill their desired goals. In doing this, I want to help students to use these learned positive attitudes and values to create a path for their futures within and beyond school. For students to achieve this, I must develop an environment that promotes positive effects of the learning process. Conclusively, I have a strong desire to help the students to thoroughly enjoy their experiences at school.
Poet William Butler Yeats once said, Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire. Teaching is not about giving students endless information, but rather about helping them learn ways to understand the content through their different learning styles and cultural lenses. With this approach, I hope to help students gain control and responsibility of their learning, enabling them to think for themselves. Additionally, this will help the students to feel a desire to share ideas, communicate concepts and inspire conversation with those around them. I feel the best moment for a teacher is witnessing a student grasp a concept for the first time -there is no better reward than helping a student finally reach clarity about a topic or skill. This kind of moment could be life-changing for both the student and I.

About
My family consists of 4 beautiful children and an amazing wife. I have been married for 11years.
I am Napier born and breed attending Napier Boys High School for my secondary schooling.
I am a Christian and I attend the Grace Napier Church, where I help with the childrens church services.
I have been a teacher for 17 years where I have taught at different schools and have had the opportunity to teach a diverse range of students. I thoroughly enjoy being a teacher and helping students to succeed in their education.
I was highly involved in the Westshore SLSC (due to family commitments I have had to step away) as a athlete and lifeguard, but mostly as the clubs head coach from 2000-2012 and I was fortunate to coach two athletes to five world titles. In 2012 my family and I moved to Noosa Heads where I took on an assistant coaching role at Noosa Heads SLSC, where I once again coached two athletes to two world titles.
I have received the Bronze Medallion for Bravery from the Royal Humane Society for a rescue off Napier's marine parade in 1994.
My family and I enjoy the beach, bush and forest. If we are not gardening on our property, we will be surfing, walking, or collecting sticks to make huts and exploring nature.
