Hi there! I'm Jack, a musician, postgraduate, and passionate educator accepting students in Auckland.

I have been teaching music for over 10 years and tutoring school subjects since 2016. I have taught learners of all ages, backgrounds, and skill levels. Whether individually or in groups, in-person or remotely, I pride myself on providing engaging and holistic learning experiences. I take a learner-centric approach, crafting materials and adapting delivery to meet students' needs and interests.

I teach acoustic, classical, and electric guitar across many styles and to all levels. I tutor academic music (i.e. NCEA levels 1-3), composition, music theory, and other music subjects.

I am also highly knowledgeable and passionate about English literature, and tutor both it and English language up to NCEA level 2. I am adept developing student's essay writing abilities, and in helping them understand structure, symbolism, and thematic content. I also tutor Maths up to NCEA level 1.

Whether you are looking for a friendly, highly knowledgeable guide to your guitar journey, or someone to help your child prepare for coursework and qualifications, I look forward to hearing from you!

I have taught guitar and music subjects for over a decade, and English and other school subjects for 7 years. I have experience of teaching primary and secondary school children, 6th form students, university applicants, and adult learners. I have put guitar students through classical and popular style graded exams offered by various awarding bodies, and have helped school students succeed across various subjects up to NCEA level 3 equivalent.

My passion for educating others began with teaching guitar to classmates while I was still a teenager. After achieving my Master's Degree, I took up educating professionally through both private tutoring and teaching community college classes in Essex, England. I gained a guitar teaching diploma and became a member of the Registry of Guitar Tutors in 2016, and achieved a Level 3 Award in Education & Training in 2019.

Since 2020 I have successfully taught guitar remotely, and enabled many previously 'technophobic' adult students to continue their learning throughout various lockdowns. I also continued tutoring academic subjects remotely, and from 2022-2023 tutored maths to NCEA level 1 equivalent students for a popular UK-wide tuition company.
